A woman was cut free from a car by firefighters following a four vehicle crash in Bedminster.

Fire crews from Bedminster and Temple fire stations were called to Vale Lane yesterday evening (May 4) after receiving reports of a road traffic collision.

On arrival shortly before 10pm, a woman was cut free from her vehicle by fire crews using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Two further casualties were then taken to hospital after being treated at the scene by paramedics.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "At 9.48pm, fire crews from Bedminster and Temple fire stations, alongside police and ambulance crews, responded to a road traffic collision involving four vehicles in Vale Lane, Bedminster.

"One female casualty required rescuing from one of the vehicles.

"Hydraulic cutting equipment was used to remove the roof of the vehicle and the casualty was rescued with a spinal board.

"Two further casualties were treated by the ambulance service at the scene and conveyed to hospital."

The South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
