Woman critically injured falling from a building - man arrested on suspicion of assault

A man has been arrested and a woman is in hospital with critical injuries after she reportedly fell from a building.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident at about 5.50pm on Matthew Street in Swansea on Monday evening.

The woman was taken to hospital with critical injuries following the fall.

South Wales Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances behind the fall and will in the area for some time.

Matthew Street in Swansea is home to two tower blocks.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said they are appealing for information following the incident.

The force said: "We are appealing for information after we were called to a report of a woman falling from a building in Matthew Street, Swansea at about 5.50pm this evening (27 July).

"An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this fall and police will remain in the area for some time.

"A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. The woman has been taken to hospital with critical injuries."
