Woman claims she was 'forcibly removed' from restaurant after posting bad review

A woman has claimed she was 'forcibly removed' from a restaurant after posting a bad review on Facebook .

Katie Swarbrick, 18, says she has been banned from the Rioja Restaurant in Ulverston for writing a negative message about the service online after waiting over an hour to be served.

However the restaurant has denied the claims, saying she was removed as she was rude to staff.

Katie says she went to the restaurant with friends and waited at the bar for over an hour without being served.

She told The Mail : "Bar staff served their friends before anyone else who was waiting.

"After an hour I gave up and went to The Sun. Later on I went back to Rioja and waiting for another 30 minutes then eventually gave up."

She wrote on Facebook about the "appalling" service, admitting she was "quite angry that in all that time I was waiting I didn’t get served even one drink".

She went back in a couple of days later and claims staff starred at her and a bouncer immediately escorted off property.

She said: "Because I complained about their customer service on Thursday I'm now banned from the bar and they won’t serve my friends.

"I was definitely not rude to the staff and did not shout at them. I even wrote an email to the restaurant and did not hear a reply."

However the restaurant has said she was told to leave as they have a strict no tolerance policy when it come to staff harrassment.

A spokesman said: "Customers are not going to get served if they are rude to staff which is the same for everybody.

"If she had behaved in the right manner, we wouldn’t have had this issue. Nobody said the complaining customer was banned."
