Woman chucked beer bottles at 3-year-old who approached her after she fell off her bike, cops say

Carolyn Miller faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after reportedly throwing beer bottles at a three-year-old boy - (Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office)

A Florida woman was arrested after allegedly throwing glass beer bottles at a three-year-old boy who approached to check on her after she fell off her bicycle.

Carolyn Miller faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident in Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday evening.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 500 block of Circle Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. to investigate reports of a disturbance.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the toddler had walked toward Miller to check on her well-being after seeing her tumble from her bike.

Miller responded by picking up two beer bottles and hurling them toward the child, according to the sheriff’s office.

Multiple residents and the child’s parents provided sworn statements to deputies, claiming the bottles were thrown with enough force to cause a serious head injury had the boy not ducked in time.

During her arrest, Miller was unable to provide a coherent explanation for the encounter.

She told deputies she believed she was being attacked, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said that Miller sustained a minor finger injury consistent with a bicycle fall, but no injuries to the child were reported.

Miller was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
