A 24-year-old woman has been charged with murder over an alleged hit-and-run that killed a Queensland police officer on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane yesterday.

Fifty-three-year-old Senior Constable David Masters was laying road spikes to stop a stolen car at Burpengary when he was hit by a car just after 3:00am on Saturday.

Queensland police will allege the driver deliberately drove at the officer, after reviewing footage of the incident captured on traffic cameras.

Special response officers executed a search warrant at an address in Upper Caboolture and arrested the woman, from Morayfield.

Detectives will allege she was a passenger in a stolen car that struck Senior Constable Masters.

Speaking to Seven Network's Sunrise program, Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the driver of the vehicle was still at large.

"[The passenger] and others have been assisting us, obviously to find the driver of that vehicle. And investigations will continue throughout the day until we find the driver," she said.

A burnt-out car, which police believe was involved in the incident, was found on Quarry Road at Moodlu, north-west of Caboolture, late on Saturday afternoon.

The Morayfield woman has been charged with one count of murder, arson of a motor vehicle, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

She was refused bail and is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Monday.

Queensland Police's Homicide Investigation Unit and Ethical Standards Command are investigating.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with any information, or relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
