A woman has been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice after the body of a man was found in the back of a van.
Leicestershire Police said the remains were found after officers forced entry to the Ford Transit van in a car park in Garden Street, Leicester, at around 5.30pm on May 27 after a member of the public reported concerns about the condition of the vehicle.
The van was registered to an address in west London and a woman was arrested in Hounslow on Friday.
Investigations surrounding the circumstances of the man’s death were carried out by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit with help from Leicestershire Police before the case was transferred to the Metropolitan Police.
The Met Police said Harinder Kaur, 39, of Sutton Dene in Hounslow, west London, was charged on Tuesday and will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court the same day.
The victim is believed to be a man in his 30s, the London force said, and work is ongoing to identify him and inform his next of kin.
Officers are urging anyone with information, doorbell or dashcam footage that may have captured a white Ford Transit with the registration BF18 VNV travelling to Leicester from London to contact police via 101, quoting 9873/28MAY.
