Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the M1 Princes Highway about 7.15pm on Friday, March 5.

Four people were trapped when the Holden Statesman sedan they were travelling in hit a median strip and a tree after a collision with a Nissan Juke, which had also been travelling south, near the Masters Road off-ramp at Mount St Thomas.

Her three passengers - a 15-year-old girl and two boys, aged five and 10 - were airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead suffering serious injuries.

The female Nissan driver, then 29 years old, and her passenger, a 32-year-old man, were uninjured. The woman was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit led inquiries into the crash. As a result, the now 30-year-old Nissan driver was given a Court Attendance Notice for six offences on Saturday, April 10.

The charges include dangerous driving occasioning death; dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm; negligent driving occasioning death, and grievous bodily harm; and two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of motor vehicle.
