Woman charged over alleged racist incident near Ibrox during title celebrations

A woman has been charged following an alleged racist incident near Ibrox on Saturday May 15.

The incident occurred outside Rangers’ grounds on the day the club were celebrating their Scottish Premiership win as thousands of fans flocked to the stadium.

Officers launched a public appeal on Friday to trace a woman in connection wth the 'racial incident'.

A 28-year-old woman has now been arrested and charged.

She will appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Following an appeal we issued on Friday, 28 May, 2021 regarding an incident near Ibrox that occurred on Saturday, 15 May, 2021 please note:

"A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"She has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date."

Officers have vowed to hunt down and arrest anyone involved in the violent scenes at George Square during fan celebrations.

So far, 30 people have been arrested in connection with incidents at the square and one person has been arrested in connection with a racial incident near Ibrox.
