A woman has been charged with attempted murder over an alleged knife attack on a seven-year-old boy in Cairns three weeks ago.
Police have alleged the 26-year-old woman assaulted the boy with a knife, cutting his chest in a home in the Cairns suburb of Woree on March 18.
Another woman intervened and fled with the boy to a neighbour's house after disarming the alleged offender.
The woman has been charged with attempted murder and assault occasioning bodily harm.
The child was taken to Cairns Base Hospital on the day of the incident, but has since been released from hospital.
Police said the woman and boy were related.
