Woman charged for allegedly refusing breath test during school pick-up

A woman will face court in August after she allegedly refused to submit to a breath test and breath analysis after driving into bushes outside a Port Stephens school.

Police said the 60-year-old was on her way to the school to pick up a nine-year-old girl at about 3.20pm when she crashed the Peugeot into a bunch of bushes and small trees while parking.

When she exited the vehicle, school staff noticed the woman and tried to stop her from driving away with the child.

The woman allegedly became aggressive and verbally abusive towards staff, who called police.

Port Stephens-Hunter police arrived at the scene and requested the woman take part in a breath test but she allegedly refused.
