A woman has been charged with reckless wounding after a man was found dead and a woman suffered head injuries at a unit complex in Sydney's west.

Police said emergency services were called to the Werrington address at about 4pm on Monday following reports of two women fighting.

Police found a 37-year-old woman with a head injury and in a neighbouring unit discovered a 43-year-old man unconscious.

Officers commenced CPR until paramedics arrived but he was unable to be revived.

The injured woman was treated at the scene before being taken to Nepean Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

Police said later on Monday officers arrested a 44-year-old woman at a home in nearby Kingswood. She has been charged with reckless wounding.

She was refused bail and will appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.
