A woman has been charged after an XL bully fatally attacked a teenager.
Kelcie Reed, 24, is due in court in April. She is accused of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death.
Morgan Dorsett, 19, died following the incident inside a flat in Withywood, Bristol, on 26 February 2025.
The Shrewsbury, Shropshire teen suffered fatal bites to the neck. The dog was put down afterwards.
Avon and Somerset Police said Reed, of Lawrence Weston, Bristol, was due before the city’s magistrates court on 23 April.
A man in his 20s, who was also arrested in 2025, will face no further action.
“This is a significant milestone in our investigation into Morgan’s tragic death last year,” Detective Sergeant Rich Glanville said.
“Her family continue to be updated on the progress of our investigation and supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.”
XL bullies are banned in the UK due to a string of “concerning” attacks and it is illegal to own one without a certificate of exemption.
Breeding, selling, and abandoning the dogs is also illegal.
