Woman cautioned after "spitting in" Merthyr council leader's peanut butter

A woman has been cautioned after "spitting" in the Merthyr Tydfil council leader's peanut butter.

Merthyr Tydfil council and South Wales Police have investigated the alleged incident involving council leader Kevin O'Neill.

It is understood the incident took place in a staff area in the Civic Centre in Merthyr, where the peanut butter belonging to Mr O'Neill is understood to have been left unattended.

A complaint of criminal damage was investigated and a woman was cautioned.

In a statement, Mr O'Neill, of the Independent Group, said the claim was subject to a council and police investigation.

He said: "I'm not prepared to say anything more at the moment."
