Woman caught 'carrying a hammer' after brawl breaks out in east London

A woman was arrested for carrying a hammer after a fight broke out in east London.

Police officers were called to Kingland Road in Dalston to reports of an altercation just before 2pm on Monday.

At the scene they found a "woman in possession of a hammer who had become violent".

Others were also fighting and a large crowd had gathered, police said.

A Met Police spokesman added: "Two people were arrested. A woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and a man was arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage.

"They were both taken to a London police station where they remain."

There were no reports of any injuries and the crowd has now dispersed.
