Woman breaks her leg in crash as driver fails to stop

A 68-year-old woman suffered a broken leg after a crash in Nottinghamshire where a driver failed to stop.

Nottinghamshire Police received a report that the pedestrian victim had been crossing on Station Street, in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, at around 11.30am on Wednesday January 27, when she was hit by a dark-coloured car.

Police say the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene.

The woman was taken to the King's Mill Hospital with "non life-threatening" injuries.

The force are now appealing for witnesses.

Police Constable Steven Van Der Bank, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has any further information about this incident.

"Were you driving along Station Street around this time? Perhaps you recorded dashcam footage that may help us with our enquiries.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 239 of 27 January 2021, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
