A Victorian woman has copped a $774 fine for breaching hotel quarantine with a young child in Hobart.
The pair left the Ibis Hotel at 6.20pm on Monday and caught a taxi before being returned by police at 7.40pm.
Public Health contact tracers are working to establish any other movements and contacts.
"As an additional public health precaution the woman will be subject to testing and more frequent COVID-19 screening for symptoms," Tasmania Police Assistant Commissioner Jonathan Higgins said.
"Appropriate contact tracing and quarantining of any further contacts will be immediately implemented if required."
Police say the incident was "resolved quickly" and they were called as soon as the breach occurred.
Tasmania's domestic hotel quarantine is monitored by private security firms.
"(This arrangement) provided and continues to provide a high standard of security since the start of the pandemic," police said in a statement.
Tasmania's borders are closed to Victoria and travellers who have been to 12 locations in NSW.
