Woman branded a 'danger to the public' after attacking stranger in the street

A female thug who attacked a stranger on a festive day out with her family has been jailed for 21 months.

Demi Webster pounced on the woman in Glasgow's Duke Street last December 23.

The victim had been returning from the city centre Christmas markets when she was punched and had hair yanked.

Prosecutor Marie McCue told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “She managed to push Webster off against a wall and escape.”

The 26-year-old then tried to stab a man in the same street just 15 minutes later.

She also attempted to rob bar worker Anne Wallace on Boxing Day.

The first female victim was packing Christmas gifts into a car outside the Braemar pub in the city's Gallowgate.

The woman was left “petrified” after Wallace demanded money.

Webster pled guilty to two assault charges as well as another of assault with intent to rob.

Sheriff John McCormick told her: “These were unprovoked attacks on complete strangers. You are a danger to the public.”
