Woman blows four times legal limit after getting car stuck on Melbourne train tracks

The driver of the car is expected to be charged with drink-driving and traffic offences.

A woman who narrowly escaped injury when her car was struck by a train has blown an alleged blood-alcohol reading of more than four times the legal limit.

The woman, in her 50s, had turned onto the railway lines at the intersection of New Street and Beach Road in Brighton when her car became stuck.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle before it was hit by the train.

She was not injured.

The crash disrupted services on the Sandringham line, with buses replacing trains for several hours, but trains have since resumed.

The Murrumbeena woman was taken to a police station for an evidentiary breath test and blew an alleged reading of 0.211.

A police spokesman said the woman was expected to be charged on summons with drink-driving and other traffic offences.
