A JD Wetherspoons pub has come under fire for refusing to serve two women for wearing 'inappropriate' crop tops.
Fuming Mollie Wood took to social media to vent about her experience at the watering hole in Reading, Berkshire.
The punter claims a male manager at the boozer said her choice of outfit was 'equal to a man being shirtless', the Daily Star reports.
In a TikTok video that went viral Mollie said: " "We got halfway walking through the pub when a male manager shouted for us to stop.
"He said, 'You can't come in here, you're dressed really inappropriately and it isn't suitable.
"'You can't be wearing a top like that.'"
When Mollie challenged him, she said the manager defended himself and said he'd been "kicking topless men out all day".
Since her video was watched more than 300,000 times on TikTok, the Back of Beyond pub has received criticism from people complaining about the decision on TripAdvisor and Google reviews, although they have since been removed from the websites, Ladbible reports.
The title said one of the negative reviews moaned: "Kicked two girls out for wearing short tops, comparing them to 'men shirtless' - awful sexist behaviour.
"Stop sexualising girls' breasts."
Now the pub is no longer letting people post new reviews.
A statement posted at the top of the pub's page reads: "Due to a recent event that has attracted media attention and has caused an influx of review submissions that do not describe a first-hand experience, we have temporarily suspended publishing new reviews for this listing."
In an earlier statement, the pub chain said no "offence" was intended when the women were refused entry but it stood by the decision of the manager.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "Two female customers visited the Back of Beyond pub in Reading on Sunday evening at approximately 7.40pm.
"Shortly after entering, the customers were politely asked to leave the pub as, on consideration by the pub’s management team, their dress was not, in this particular case, in accordance with the company’s guidance to pubs on appropriate customer dress.
"What may be considered appropriate dress is invariably a matter of individual judgement and whilst no offence was intended to the two customers by the request to leave the pub, we support the approach of the pub’s management team in this instance."
