A woman has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being bitten by a dog in a garden.
Police said a helicopter was involved in the incident at a property in Crowborough, East Sussex, on Friday evening .
Sussex Police said the woman was rushed to hospital and the dog was seized after the incident at around 8pm.
A spokesman for the force told Sussex Live: "The woman was brought to safety and taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.
"The dog was contained in the garden, with the support of National Police Air Service helicopter and has since been seized by officers."
Earlier this week, a woman's fingertip was bitten off by in a dog during an attack at a park in North Yorkshire.
The woman, in her 40s, was walking her dog on King George V playing fields in Guisborough on Tuesday when she stopped to talk to another dog walker.
Both dogs were let off their lea before the man’s dog lunged at the woman’s pet.
The woman was bitten by the man's dog as she tried to separate the animals, losing her fingertip in a grisly ordeal that reportedly left her requiring surgery.
The dog has been described as a female Staffordshire bull terrier, of around three years old, of brindle colouring and with a white chest.
Cleveland Police says its officers are keen to trace the dog's owner and his pet.
The man is described as white, around 5ft 8” tall, bald and “well built”.
He spoke with a South Yorkshire accent and was wearing jeans and a t-shirt the force added.
Cleveland Police are appealing to the owner of the Staffordshire bull terrier to come forward or any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
