Woman barred from Newcastle nightspot after 'vile' post about customers on Instagram

A woman has been barred from a Newcastle nightspot after labelling fellow customers "whales" in a vile Instagram post.

Utopiar, at Digital, took action after the sickening message emerged over the weekend.

The widely-shared post showed a table of women enjoying drinks in the sun at the Times Square venue.

The picture was captioned: "Never seen as much beach whales in my life".

Online, the "disgusting" post was widely condemned.

And on Facebook, the venue confirmed that the woman behind it was no longer welcome.

"We've noticed there's a post going around on social media from one of our events last night," posted Utopiar.

"We don't condone their actions whatsoever. It's disgusting and she will no longer be welcome at any Loosedays or Utopiar event.

"We all should be enjoying life as one after this awful year."

Sharing part of the woman's offending snap, the venue added:"Not today hun and not ever in our events #barred "

The venue's post has, to date, been shared more than 3,000 times with customers praising the venue's "amazing" decision.

"Hopefully all bars will do the same to her," wrote one follower.

And another added: "Well done! Let’s stop body shaming."

ChronicleLive approached the venue, as well as the individual responsible for the post, for additional comment.
