A young woman is recovering from head injuries after she was attacked with a pellet gun and a taser in a shocking morning assault in the city centre.
The victim, who is in her late 20s, is understood to have been set upon by a man and a woman on Capel Street at around 11:45am this morning.
A witness to the violent attack told Dublin Live some of the woman's hair was pulled out before she was allegedly kicked repeatedly in the face as she lay on the ground.
Luckily, a passing cyclist stopped to help the woman and fend off her attackers.
A garda spokesman told Dublin Live a woman in her early 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident.
He said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault incident that occurred in the Capel Street area of Dublin 1 on 05/02/2021 at approximately 11:45am.
"A female, aged in her late 20s, was assaulted in the area receiving head injuries. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. It is reported a pellet gun and Taser were involved in the assault.
"A woman, aged in her early 30s, has been arrested and charged in relation to this incident. She is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 2, on 06/02/2021 at 10:30am."
