A woman was rushed to hospital after being attacked in a Motherwell supermarket in what police are describing as a serious assault.
The 35-year-old was taken to Wishaw General Hospital following the incident which took place on Muirhouse Road on the evening of Wednesday, May 13.
Police are hunting for two suspects, a man and a woman, who fled the scene in a white Ford Fiesta following the attack.
Lanarkshire Police have issued descriptions of the duo, who are both understood to be in the twenties.
The victim was released from hospital later the same evening.
A statement released by the Lanarkshire Police Division reads: "Officers in Motherwell are appealing for information following a serious assault that took place on Wednesday, 13 May, 2020.
"The incident happened around 7.45pm at Smart Ways shop on Muirhouse Road. A 35-year-old woman was assaulted by a man and a woman within the shop before they left in a white Ford Fiesta car. The victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment to an injury sustained and released later that evening.
"The male suspect is described as early 20s, of slim build with short strawberry blond hair. He was wearing black shorts, a black jumper and black trainers.
"The female suspect is described as around 20 years old, approx 5 ft 4 ins, of slim build with shoulder length brown hair. She was wearing a light coloured jumper, blue jeans and black trainers."
Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart, of Wishaw CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the Muirhouse Road area around this time and saw any suspicious activity or people matching that description to get in touch. If you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam, I would ask you to please check back and see if there is any footage that may assist us in our investigation."
