Woman attacked in Bellshill as police launch manhunt following assault

Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was assaulted in Lanarkshire.

The 23-year-old was attacked by a thug near the junction of Hamilton Road and Blackmoss Drive in Bellshill at around 1.05pm on Friday September 18.

The woman had been walking from the lane that leads from Liberty Road towards Strachan Street when the man approached her.

He is described as white, about 5ft 11ins of medium build, with short dark hair and aged around 25.

He was wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan, of Wishaw CID, said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge anyone who may have information that will assist our investigation to come forward.


“If you can help please contact Wishaw CID on 101, quoting incident number 1721 of Friday, 18 September, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
