A woman who was mauled by her four 'bulldogs' was 'trying to break them up from fighting" a neighbour has claimed.
Emergency services were called to Assam Close, in St Helens, on Monday, December 6, after reports a woman had been attacked by her own four dogs.
Armed police, paramedics, and the fire service all attended the scene just off Reginald Road.

The street was flooded with emergency services for the best part of the morning while neighbours on the usually quiet street looked on concerned.
The woman was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday Merseyside Police confirmed the dogs were in police kennels after being taken away by officers.
One neighbour today told the ECHO that the dogs would often fight and the woman was 'trying to break them up'.
She also told how emergency services had to break through a window to help the woman who couldn't get to her door.
One neighbour said : "I was just coming home from work and I saw all the fire service and paramedics, police weren't here yet.
"I couldn't even get onto my drive there was that many.
"It's a shocking, horrible thing to happen and I just feel sorry for her because I know what dogs can be like when they start like that and just get in the zone, they don't care who they're biting.
"I've seen the dog owner getting a lot of stick online and people assuming things which I don't think is fair as no one really knows what happened.
"The dogs fight a lot and she gets in between them to break it up, and that's what seems to have happened this time.
"I think the emergency services literally had to go in through the window to help her as she couldn't make it to the door to open it."
Another resident, who did not want to be named, said: "The thought of anything like this happening really just terrifies me, I really hope the woman is okay and recovers from this.

"It's normally a really nice., quiet little street, so I don't think anyone can really believe what went on, I think no one really knew how to react."
Police attended the scene for several hours on Monday, December 6, along with armed response units, and dog units in an attempt to deal with the attack.
The dogs at the address were seized by Merseyside Police, and could be seen being placed into the back of an unmarked black van outside the property.
Assam close is a small residential street, sitting close to St Helens Junction railway station, a busy link between Liverpool and Manchester.
Merseyside Police confirmed yesterday, December 7, that the victim of the attack had been released from hospital and is now recovering at home.
