Woman assaulted in Crieff while walking dog

A woman has been assaulted whilst out walking her dogs in Crieff.

The woman was knocked to the ground during her walk through the grounds of Drummond Castle at around 7.20am on Friday, January 31.

Although she was not injured, the man approached her from behind when he assaulted her.

Police officers investigating the incident are now appealing for more information from members of the public, and say that although the castle grounds would have been in darkness at this time of the morning, they are used extensively runners and dog walkers.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland’s Tayside division said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information about an incident which happened in Crieff on Friday, January 31.

“[At] about 7.20am, a woman was walking her dogs through the grounds of Drummond Castle Gardens, when she was allegedly assaulted and knocked to the ground by a man who had approached her from behind.

“He is described as about 5ft 10, broad shouldered, and had a head torch.

“Fortunately she was not injured.

“Although dark at the time, the castle grounds are extensively used by runners and dog walkers.

“The incident happened on the rear access road, about 50 yards from a fork in the path, and near to a set of electric access gates.

“If you were in the area and were aware of a man, possibly a runner, matching this description or acting suspiciously, please let us know.”

Information which may be useful to the investigating police officers can be passed on by calling the division on 101 or speaking to a police officer.
