Woman assaulted by lorry driver after Scots road rage brawl breaks out on A9

A woman has been assaulted by a lorry driver after a Scots road rage brawl broke out on the A9.

A red lorry followed a woman into layby before assaulting her in Perth on Tuesday.

The female driver of a black Kia Sportage car had pulled over to deal with a car fault.

The driver of the lorry then pulled in behind her after becoming furious that he had to slow down behind her.

He then got out of his vehicle to shout at the woman before assaulting her and driving away.

The woman was left 'very shaken' by the confrontation which happened on the southbound A9 between Inveralmond and Broxden at around 12:30pm on Tuesday.

The lorry driver is described as a white male in his late 50s, about 5ft 10 and medium build with red hair and a freckled and tanned complexion, and was wearing a black polo shirt and black combat trousers.

Now officers are appealing for dashcam footage as they launch investigations into the incident.

Police Scotland said: "We are currently investigating a 'road rage' type incident which happened on the southbound A9 between Inveralmond and Broxden, Perth, about 12:30pm on Tuesday 13th April.

"The female driver of a black Kia Sportage car had to slow down and pull into a layby when her car developed a fault. The driver of a red lorry which had apparently been behind the car and required to slow down due to this then pulled into the same layby, approached the car driver, and allegedly verbally abused her and assaulted her before driving away.

"She was not injured but was left very shaken.

"This incident happened at the side of one of Tayside’s busiest roads, and we like to hear from anyone who may have driven past and seen any part of this incident, especially if they have dashcam footage.

"If you have any information that could assist us, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.

"Also, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 1204 of 13th April."
