Woman asks if she is a 'dirty dishes monster' after sharing washing up method

A woman has sparked a debate online after sharing her unique washing up method which she has noticed is different from others.

She has a very logical process and starts by filling the basin with hot water and washing up liquid. She then begins with the cleanest of the items and moves to the dirtier pots and pans last so the water does not become too murky.

The woman adds that if the water does get too nasty she will empty and refill it but some have judged her for washing the pots and pans in the already dirty water.

In a Reddit post, the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "When I do the dishes, I do them in a basin with hot water and soapy suds. I am logical in my process in that I go from cleanest dishes to dirtiest dishes- i.e glasses, mugs washed first. Plates, pots, pans last.

"If water gets pretty murky then I will get rid and refill basin and crack on."

But she added that recently she has seen lots of people simply leaving the tap running and not using a basin to wash each thing with clean water.

She updated the post by saying: "I have not yet died of residual excess Fairy Liquid consumption should there be any on un-rinsed dishes. Nor do I fart bubbles.

"I have also not started lathering Fairy Liquid from my mouth when eating as I have never been able to taste it from a clean plate I eat my food from.."

But some have been quick to judge her method as one person wrote: "I never liked this method. Yes there is soap I get that, but it doesn't make sense of cleaning them in dirty water, even if you rinse them off.

"I've also noticed [that with] people who clean like this their dishes smell, especially if egg or another smelly food is involved."

Another added: "Cleaning in a sink of water getting progressively more dirty as you wash doesn’t seem sensible to me."

However, others were on her side as one penned: "I saw the Fairy advert the other day saying to wash up with cold water, I don't think I could ever subscribe to that."
