Woman 'ashamed' after video appearing to show her have sex in a nightclub emerges

A woman at the centre of a sex video filmed inside a nightclub says she is "ashamed" of her actions.

The footage shows the amorous antics of a couple who were oblivious that their behaviour was very public.

But the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, has now spoken out after having no recollection of being at The Beach nightspot in Cleethorpes.

She spoke to GrimsbyLive because she wanted to warn others about the dangers of drinking too much.

She said: "Alcohol can be dangerous and quite frankly the fact that I can't remember even walking into the club unsettled me."

"I am ashamed of what happened that night. I had drunk more than I ever have and regret the decisions I have made."

She added: "I do believe it has been blown out of proportion, as there was no physical penetration. I understand the issues with what happened and the implication of what was seen, but would like to move on."

Chairman of Cleethorpes PubWatch Anne Coleman said: "It is not acceptable. Thankfully these incidents are very few and far between. But it is not acceptable.

"It is clear that the door staff and management  were distracted in some way, otherwise they would have dealt with it and ejected the two of them.

"There would have been about 500 to 600 people in there. The staff would not have been aware and were probably dealing with something else, like a drunk person. No one would allow that to happen.

"I think the person who filmed them is just as bad as the two people. Someone thought it was funny to film it but it is unacceptable. They are idiots.

"Why would any woman allow someone do that to them? Let's be honest. Did they go out that night with the intention of doing that? They were probably drunk. How many people have sex in toilets that you don't know about?"

The chairman added: "I doubt they will catch them and I doubt the police will carry out an investigation. We shall certainly be discussing it at our next PubWatch meeting next month. I will raise it.

"But what can you do. It is Christmas have the police not got enough to do? Yes. Do people want to find out who the couple are? I doubt it."

It is a criminal offence to have sex in public. There are laws of outraging public decency and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress contrary to the 1986 Public Order Act.

Police tend to only become involved if there is a complaint. The fine is usually between £300 to £500.

Manager of The Beach, in Cleethorpes, Philip Campbell said: "This has never happened before. This is not the norm in Cleethorpes. This kind of behaviour is not tolerated.

"We have zero-tolerance to drugs, aggression and sex. People come to have a nice time. On Mad Friday everywhere was busy. It would have happened out of the eyeline of staff, door staff and management. But as soon as they were spotted it would have been stopped and the people asked to leave."

He added: "People have kisses all the time. But if it gets to this level someone is going to be taken out. It is something that needs to be done in their private lives. If people take their shirts off in the club they are asked to put them back on."

The manager said the Christmas season at The Beach and the other venues he manages had been successful, without any incidents of concern.
