A PROTESTER has claimed she was arrested for holding a sign saying “I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action”.
A video of the woman shows her being led through Trafalgar Square, London by four police officers.
She said: “I’ve been holding a sign saying that I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action. I’ve been arrested for having the words ‘Palestine Action’ written on a sign. This is a police state.”
Asked by the person filming whether she thought “police will be arresting journalists next for mentioning Palestine Action”, the woman laughs before saying: “Anything is possible, apparently in this country. I don’t recognise it anymore.”
UNLAWFUL ARREST This woman was arrested for holding a sign with “I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action” on it, a totally lawful statement to make, even under the Labour government’s absurd new laws proscribing the direct action group.https://t.co/xHyNnPtPT9 pic.twitter.com/4NrwWHZURl

The footage was shared by the campaign group Defend Our Juries on Twitter/X on Sunday evening. Campaigners called it an “unlawful arrest”.
They said her sign was a “totally lawful statement, even under the Labour government’s absurd new laws proscribing the direct action group”.
Palestine Action were banned under terror laws this summer after breaking into an RAF air base and vandalising planes.
The group’s proscription under the Terrorism Act makes it a criminal offence to be a member of Palestine Action and to express support for it.
However, it is not a criminal offence to say that the proscription itself should not be in place.
The Metropolitan Police was approached for comment.
