Woman charged with murder after man found stabbed to death on footpath

A central Queensland woman will spend at least the next two months in custody after being charged with the stabbing murder of a father of seven in 2017.

Kimberley Ruth Mitchell is accused of murdering Kevin John Ryan, 40, in October last year.

Mr Ryan was found seriously injured on a footpath at Emu Park, near Rockhampton, with stab wounds to his chest.

Paramedics provided CPR, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later seized knives from a unit on Bright Street.

On Tuesday, investigators confirmed they had charged a 27-year-old woman with his murder.

Ms Mitchell appeared in court in Rockhampton briefly this morning.

The case will return to the court in March.
