Woman arrested over brutal murder of homeless chef Timmy Hourihane in Co Cork

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of Timothy Hourihane in Co Cork last year.

She is the third person to be arrested as part of the gardai investigation.

Mr Hourihane was found close to death beside his burning tent on the Mardyke Walk in the city at around 12.45am on Sunday, October 13, 2019.

Timmy, in his 50s, had been the victim of a prolonged and vicious attack and was found badly beaten.

He was rushed to Cork University Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

On Wednesday morning gardai confirmed that a woman, who is in her 30s, has been arrested by officers investigating the killing.

She is currently being held at Bridewell garda station, where she can be detained for up to 24 hours.

A garda spokesman said: "A woman in her 30s was arrested in Cork this morning by investigating Gardaí.

"The investigation is ongoing."
