Woman arrested on suspicion of drug driving after travelling on the M6 during rush hour - without a tyre

A motorist was arrested after she was caught travelling on the M6 during rush hour - without a tyre.

A 27-year-old woman from Greater Manchester was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after being involved in a car crash on Wednesday evening.

Motorway police were called after the badly wrecked vehicle was spotted driving down the M6 in Maghull, Lancashire.

Shocking images released by police show the extent of the damage to the the grey Nissan Juke which had been left abandoned and which had no nearside front tyre.

The driver had fled the scene it is said, however, officers later detained a woman who was arrested and was taken in for questioning.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Working with North West Motorways Police (NWMP), we have arrested a woman on suspicion of drug driving following an incident in Maghull on Wednesday 29 January.

"The vehicle was sighted on the M6 and came to a stop on the hard shoulder between J22 and J21a, with significant damage.

"A 27-year-old woman from Ashton-Under-Lyne was detained and arrested on suspicion of drug driving and taken to a police station for questioning.”
