Woman arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after three-car smash

A woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a three-car crash in south Manchester.

The smash happened on Burnage Lane just before 5.30pm on Wednesday (January 12).

A section of the road was closed off as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police said one person was taken to hospital from the scene.

They were able to go home a short time later.

A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

She has since been bailed pending further enquiries, a spokesperson for the force said.

Pictures from the scene showed one badly damaged car flipped over its over roof after the crash.

Two other vehicles also appeared to have been badly damaged in the smash, with the front of one red van left completely smashed up.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly before 5.30pm on Wednesday 12 January to a report of a collision involving three vehicles on Burnage Lane, Manchester.

"Emergency services attended, one person was taken to hospital and released shortly afterwards.

"A woman aged 49 was arrested on suspicion of Drink Driving, and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
