Woman arrested in Irish town after 'attempting to drive off in ambulance'

A woman has been arrested and charged following an incident in Co Tyrone on Saturday where she allegedly attempted to drive off in an ambulance.

Police say the 46-year-old has been charged with driving with excess alcohol in breath and taking a motor vehicle without authority.

Officers were called to the scene in the Brigade Terrace area of Strabane on Saturday, July 23 following reports that a woman had attempted to drive off in an ambulance.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police in Strabane have charged a 46-year-old woman with being in charge with excess alcohol in breath, and taking a motor vehicle without authority.

"She is due to appear before Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday 11th August.

"As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
