Woman arrested following alleged hammer assault which put man in hospital

A woman has been arrested after a man was reportedly hit over the head with a hammer. Officers were called to a house in Garden Street, Radford, at around 2.30pm on Sunday, July 10, following reports of an assault.

The man suffered cuts to his head after allegedly being hit with a weapon. He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-altering at this stage.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Sergeant Sharonjit Powar, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident, so we’d ask that anyone who has any information that could assist us with our investigation comes forward as soon as possible.

“The force treats all reports of violence extremely seriously and will always do everything in our power to keep this type of behaviour off our streets and make sure those involved are dealt with appropriately.”

The woman remains in police custody.
