A woman has been arrested after an incident in Sunderland this afternoon which saw a man rushed to hospital.
Police and ambulance crews were alerted at roughly 9.55am today (February 23) and discovered an injured man, 23, in the King Henry Court area of the city.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but it is understood the man is now set to be discharged. A cordon remains in place in the area this afternoon.
A reporter for The Chronicle at the scene said a duvet-type blanket can be seen on the pavement beside one police car. While opposite the scene, another police cordon remains in place with an officer standing at the doorway entrance of the flats.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said the incident happened early this morning, with an ambulance arriving at the scene at around 11am, while another said they believe someone collapsed outside the shop in the area.
Another resident said of a man who was "lying on the floor" that "some might have just thought he was drunk".

Officers arrested a 35-year-old woman in connection with the incident, who remains in custody.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 9.55am today, we were alerted by the ambulance service to an injured male in the King Henry Court area of Sunderland.
“Emergency crews attended and a 23-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment but is set to be discharged.
“A 35-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called at 09:49am to a person injured in the King Henry Court area of Sunderland. We sent one emergency ambulance and one Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle. One patient was transported to hospital."
