Woman arrested and charged over death of toddler Santina Cawley in Cork

A woman in her 30s has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of toddler Santina Cawley in Cork last month.

She is due in court in the city this morning, Cork Beo reports.

The two-year-old was found with serious injuries at an apartment on the Boreenmanna Road on July 5 and was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead four hours later at Cork University Hospital.

Little Santina's mother Bridget spoke out in an emotional interview with the Neil Prendeville Show on Red FM a short time after the tragic incident.

She said: "All I want now is justice for her to rest because I know she's not resting.

"And I really want to know why they did it to my baby and what they did to her."

We will have updates on the court appearance of the woman who has been arrested and charged later today.
