Woman arrested after 'threatening public with hammer' near Scots high school

A woman has been arrested after allegedly threatening members of the public with a hammer near a Scots high school.

The 34-year-old female is also accused of allegedly being aggressive towards police after they found her with the weapon.

Cops claim they had to restrain and arrested the woman at around 8.45am on Tullibody Road in Alloa, near to Lornshill Academy.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "About 8:45 am yesterday, Thursday 27th August, officers responded to reports of a female in possession of a hammer threatening members of the public on Tullibody Road, Alloa near to Lornshill Academy.

"On arrival, the female continued to act in an aggressive and violent manner towards Police officers, she was was restrained and subsequently arrested and charged with numerous offences including possession of offensive weapon.

"The 34 year old female was held in custody last night and will appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court today."
