Woman arrested after car flips over in Christmas Day crash on the M56

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after her car flipped over in a Christmas Day crash on the M56.

Emergency services were called after a car was found its side on the exit slip road at junction 10 of the motorway, for Northwich and Warrington.

Fire crews as well as police and paramedics attended the scene in Cheshire in the early hours of this morning and the woman had to be rescued from the car by firefighters.

It's not believed any other vehicles were involved.

She was checked over by paramedics and is said to have suffered a broken collar bone.

However she has also been arrested on supsicion of driving under the influence after officers said she gave a breath test reading of 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

"Not a good start to her Christmas on way to custody" the North West Motorway Police said.

"To say she was lucky not receive more serious injuries #luckyunlucky " they added.

In a seperate incident around the same time, a car was seen driving past a police patrol at the same junction missing a tyre.

The female driver was pulled over and was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving after police said she gave a breath test reading of 69.

Police described the incident as 'unbeilevable.'
