A woman is facing assault charges after allegedly biting off a chunk of her friend’s tongue while they were kissing.
The victim was found bleeding and police recovered a one-inch piece of tongue in his bedroom after the incident, which stunned Detroit prosecutors.
"I believe this is the first case of this nature in my 27 years in the prosecutor's office," Eric Smith said.
Police say Youlette Wedgeworth, 52, and her 68-year-old victim were long-term friends, while her victim said they were dating.
It is claimed that they were consensually kissing, but when the victim put his tongue in her mouth she told him to stop.
When they resumed kissing, she then bit off the end of his tongue.
The victim is currently in hospital and it is unclear whether the piece of tongue has been re-attached.
