Woman appears in court charged with beating teacher at Liverpool secondary school

A woman today appeared in court charged with beating a teacher at a Liverpool secondary school.

Mercy Owusu, 32, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court this morning facing three charges.

Owusu wore a black suit and black top as she stood in the dock with her hair tied back.

She spoke to confirm her name, date of birth, address and to deny the allegations.

Owusu is charged with assaulting teacher Jonathan Jones at St Hilda's High School on Croxteth Drive at Sefton Park on January 17 this year.

She is also charged with dangerous driving at the school and assaulting Gift Uko Brandy.

After denying the charges put to her the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court for trial.

She will next appear at the crown court for a hearing on Thursday, September 16.

The 32-year-old was released on conditional bail until that date, and must not contact Gift Uko Brandy or enter Croxteth Drive.
