Woman appears in court accused of assisting an offender in relation to the death of man in Rusholme

A woman had appeared in court accused of assisting an offender in relation to the death of a man in Rusholme.

Katie McMullan, aged 27, appeared in the dock at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning.

Ms McMullan, of Carnforth Street in Rusholme is charged with one offence of assisting an offender.

She confirmed her name, date of birth and address before the magistrates.

No pleas were entered.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a property on Carnforth Street at around 1.15am on Tuesday, July 14 2020.

Officers arrived and found the body of Leroy Hanley, aged 59, within the property.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics were called.

Two men have previously appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court in relation to Mr Hanley’s death.

Connor Gould O’Casey, 22, of Charles Street, Manchester city centre, and Jack Brown, 26, of no fixed address, are both charged with murder.

Ms McMullan was bailed to appear at the next hearing on October 16 this year at Manchester Crown Court.
