Woman and two children taken to hospital after being hit by a car

A woman and two children have been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Wigan .

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash in Warrington Road, Ince, at about 8.40am today (Monday, January 13).

A woman in her 20s and two children had been injured after being struck by a grey Nissan Qashqai.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Police say the driver of the car stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

Following the incident, Warrington Road was closed in both directions.

Several ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

A number of fire engines were also spotted by eyewitnesses.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Warrington Road at about 8.40am.

"We sent three ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, an advanced paramedics, an operational commander and an air ambulance.

"We treated a female in her 20s and two children for injuries and took them to hospital."
