Woman and teen shot at in botched gun attack on Ayrshire street

A woman and teenager have been shot at in a botched gun attack in an Ayrshire town.

Cops swooped on Hawthorn Street in Beith, North Ayrshire, after the incident which took place in the early hours of this morning.

The woman and teenager were targeted as they walked along the street.

The shots missed the pair who are unhurt after the shock incident.

Pictures from the scene show a heavy police presence the area.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed they had received reports of an alleged shooting on the street.

She added that a probe was underway to understand the full circumstances.

She said: "We received a report of an alleged firearm being discharged towards a woman and a man on Hawthorn Street, Beith.

"The incident happened around 1.15am on Thursday, 3 December.

"Nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
