Woman and man left needing hospital treatment following separate weekend incidents

Police officers in Motherwell were called to an address at the weekend after a woman sustained a cut to her head following an alleged assault.

The 32-year-old attended Wishaw General for treatment to a two-inch cut following the incident at McClurg Court on Saturday, December 18.

A 26-year-old male was arrested and detained - he was due to appear at court in relation to the alleged assault this week.

Meanwhile, police in the town are also investigating an assault that left a man with permanent scarring to his face.

The 36-year-old sustained a cut to his eyebrow that required hospital treatment at Wishaw General, and which officers say "will result in permanent scarring".

The incident took place in Stevenston Street, Holytown, between Midnight and 1am on Friday, December 17.

Officers also report that a bogus workman stole a set of ladders after offering to do work on the roof of a home in Motherwell.

The man attended and offered to do the repair work at a property in Gresham View on Sunday, December 19 but then made off from the home owner with their ladders.

Police are currently following up with enquiries, however, if you have any information that may assist with the investigation please contact officers on 101.

Officers are also reminding residents to be mindful not open the door to anyone suspicious, and to check ID of anyone attending at your home.

Elsewhere, a white-coloured BMW 3 series was stolen from a layby near Holytown Cemetery.

Police are currently investigating the theft which took place between 10pm on Wednesday, December 15 and 5pm on Friday, December 17 Edinburgh Road, Newhouse.

The vehicle possibly has a smashed window.
