Woman and hospitalised man arrested after assault in Bolton

A man and a woman have been arrested following an assault in Bolton.

Police were called to Davenport Street at around 6.50pm on Monday (May 31) to reports of an attack.

On arrival, emergency services found an injured 47-year-old man and he was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was later arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and criminal damage, GMP have said.

A 34-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

They both remain in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers were called around 6.50pm on Monday 31 May 2021 to Davenport Street, Bolton to a report of an assault.

“Emergency services attended and enquiries established a male had been assaulted.

“A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“He was later arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and criminal damage.

“A 34-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

“They both remain in custody for questioning.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
