Mother and son struck after two cars collide in Victor Harbor

A six-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a crash involving two cars and two pedestrians at Victor Harbor, south of Adelaide.

SA Police said a sedan and a four-wheel drive collided on Seaview Road, just after 8:30am, with one of the cars hitting two people on the footpath — the Victor Harbor boy and his 32-year-old mother.

SA Ambulance Service said a child had serious head and chest injuries following the crash, and was initially taken to the South Coast District Hospital.

The child was transported by helicopter to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide for treatment with multiple head and chest injuries.

A woman, who was also injured in the crash, was taken to the South Coast District Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the drivers of the vehicles, an 82-year-old McCracken woman and a 46-year-old Hayborough woman, were not injured in the crash.

The sedan ended up in the rear yard of a house.

Seaview Road has reopened to traffic.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene and are examining the circumstances of the crash.
