Woman and child knocked down in separate Cork road accidents

A woman and a child were knocked down in separate incidents in Cork in the last 24 hours.

The youngster was rushed to hospital after being hit by a jeep in Fairfield Meadows, Cork City on Saturday morning.

The child only suffered "minor" injuries according to a garda spokesperson who told Cork Beo an investigation is underway.

They said: "Gardaí attended a single vehicle RTC involving a jeep and a pedestrian at Fairfield Meadows this morning, Saturday 7th March.

"The pedestrian, a minor, was taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries. Investigations are ongoing."

In a separate incident on Sunday morning a female pedestrian was brought to hospital after being hit by a car on the Togher Road, Cork City.

Gardai attended the scene at around 9am and the woman is not believed to have been badly hurt.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
