Woman and boy, 11, taken to hospital following crash in Bolton

A woman and an 11-year-old boy have been taken to hospital following a car crash in Bolton.

The smash took place on Chorley New Road, in Horwich, at around 8.50am on Friday morning.

Paramedics treated a boy and a woman, who were inside a car, at the scene.

They were then taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Roads in the vicinity of the collision were shut while emergency services attended.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a collision. We sent two ambulances to the scene.

"We have treated two patients - one male, an 11-year-old and the second patient is an adult female.

"They were both taken to hospital."
